What we do: Mauritius biodiversity conservation
Protecting what remains.
Restoring what’s been lost.
With less than 2% high quality native forest remaining, our island’s biodiversity is in crisis.

Call For Action
At Ebony Forest, we cannot stand idly by while this vital web of life crumbles before our eyes.
We are protecting and restoring the irreplaceable richness of Mauritian biodiversity, for the sake of our planet and future generations.
We believe in a holistic approach to restoration – not just planting trees! After all, a forest is not simply a collection of trees. Our mission is to safeguard our natural heritage and ensure its resilience to future challenges.
When we protect biodiversity, everyone gains in their quality of life. Biodiversity is the foundation for essential human needs such as medicine, food, shelter, and fuel. It also supports crucial ecosystem services such as pollination, seed dispersal, climate regulation, air and water purification, nutrient cycling, and controlling agricultural pests.
Our approach includes:
Surveying and monitoring for informed evidence based decisions
Removing threats to biodiversity
Reintroducing species that have disappeared
Raising awareness and building capacity
